AEA services support children and families
A student was riding a bicycle when struck by a bus on a city street. After initial medical treatment was given for the many injuries, AEA staff worked with the student's parents and school staff to provide interventions and to evaluate the student's needs relating to a brain injury.
There have been ongoing evaluations and consultation with the student's parents, physician, teachers and other care givers to provide an appropriate program to meet the medical, emotional, memory and academic needs.
The student has made great gains in all skills since the accident a few years ago. Intensive special education services are no longer needed; the student is in all general education classes with minimal support. The student was recognized as a student of the month and is an inspiration to everyone.
