Succeeding with ELL Report released

The Council of the Great City Schools has just released summary of findings from several large school districts across the U.S. regarding achievement levels of English Language Learners. This publication identifies practices that have, in general, been found to increase achievement and those that may delay language acquisition.

Specifically, the study examined district-level policies and practices, as well as the historical, administrative and programmatic contexts of school systems that showed growth in ELL student achievement from 2002-2006. During the same time period these experiences were contrasted with the experiences of districts that did not demonstrate as much growth in ELL achievement.
